YouTorrent is ready for something big!

Hi guys, it’s been a while since we’ve properly updated you with the happenings at YouTorrent. There have been some major structural changes over the last 2 years from when we were just a meta search engine.  Now we are almost there after 2 years of some hard (some of it tedious) work. So what have we been doing…

A whole new user system

YouTorrent previously was just a search engine, with little or no user participation. This begged the question, why would we be called YouTorrent if there was nothing actually for you? So we decided to completely change our approach. There was only one way forward: that you should be the basis for the site. After two years the result is a whole new user system which will allow you to share your own torrents which you can seed, or even upload your content for our servers to seed! Yes, we will be distributing your content for free. The long term aim is for everyone from application developers, rock bands, DJs, graphic artists or independent movie producers to share their content on YouTorrent. Why be restricted to only movies at YouTube and only applications at CNET, when you can go to one place to get it all using the most efficient technology around? Torrents are by far the best way to get large amounts of data out there, so lets all embrace it.

We have a long way to go

This whole system is far from complete, we know. We want to make it the best user system possible. Easy to use, fast, reliable and fun. So there is lots to do and lots to come, but we always appreciate your feedback and ideas (so click on the tab on the right of the page). Things that we have in the pipeline:

• Integration it BitLet technology on our pages, so you can download torrents with a Java applet.

• A full comment and rating system for torrents pages.

• Improved statistics on torrent pages.

• A faster and more accurate search with advanced options.

• Numerous improvements to the file upload system.

and something a bit secret…

We’ve got a bit surprising coming to the torrent community. This is under wraps at the moment, but get excited. We aim to give you this nugget of tech news in early to mid-October.
